For a trip to Cairo, the best is to take a few days off. You depart from Safaga by choice with the minibus or by plane. In Cairo you will visit the pyramids of Cheops, Chefren and Mykerinos in Giza. These pyramids were built more than 4500 years ago as a tomb for the kings of Egypt. Next to the pyramids is the Great Sphinx of Giza. The sphinx is 57 meters long and 20 meters wide shows the body of a lion with the head of a king. You must also visit the National Museum. Here you will find an overview of the most important art treasures of Egypt and of course the almost complete content of the tomb of Tutankhamun. A separate room is set up for the golden death mask and the sarcophagi. You can visit the mosque of Mohamed Ali, built in the 19th century and the most famous mosque of Cairo. Also visit the Citadel, a defensive structure built by the ruler Saladin in the 12th century. You must also make time for the largest souk in the world, the Khan al Khalili. In the first part many souvenirs, water pipes and gold and silver, but if you continue through the narrow streets you will find local consumer goods and antiques. A trip on the Nile with a feluka should of course not be missed. Also do not forget the Coptic quarter, the Christian part of Cairo. The neighborhood is surrounded by walls and you walk through small alleys, through courtyards and past churches. The Coptic museum is also located here. Haven’t seen and walked enough ?? Visit one of the big shopping centers such as the Stars Centers or climb the 187 meter high television tower, Burj Cairo. You will not get bored in Cairo.
